Notes

FilteredPush Team meeting 2013 Apr 17 Present:, Tianhong, Sven, Bertram, James, Heather, Bob, David, Paul. Agenda

Bob: FP and OAD well recieved. Good conversation with Anna Gerber working with ALA, has a validator that she is rewriting from OAC to OA. Student from Berkeley working on a project this term trying to annotate Occurrence records using OA. Lots of people are discovering that you need a document store as well as a triple store for your annotations.

  • Upcoming Meetings
    • Rebuild of demonstration (and video)

Bob: Don't need a demonstration to take to OA rollout, video important though.

David: Resolved issues with the window manager - working on having data set and current code out on Firuta.

    • OA East coast rollout meeting. (May 6)

Target video with audio track before then.

    • SPNHC ( [2] ) ApplePie
      • Demo QC annotations with Kepler?
      • Registration by May 15
      • Abstracts due May 15
    • CNH

James has draft of abstract on workshop. Looks reasonable. Will pass on to the CNH organizers, they are aiming for Friday morning - July 19th.

Might be about 25 attendees.

James: Ask people to: go look at things first?, bring laptops?

Paul: Probably provide them scripts to work through while there, as naieve users.

James: Video or work through process first.

Paul: We should probably have several of us there to collect feedback.

Paul: Participant support costs? Something to discuss with Jim.

James: Key element is whether this is the workshop for UI, or if we'll be doing another.

  • Knowledge/Interests implementation.

David: Added support for to knowledge for queries on both Fedora and Fuseki, with parameters that let us ask what we are asking questions about. This alows us to ask either for lists of available workflows. Generic interface for queries expressed in sparqul. Parameters in query allow choice of which implementation to use (or to target specific datasets/stores). Query/load/construct.

  • Embedded Kepler
    • Progress on UI in annotation processor (demo).

David: Not all deployed yet (in one setting).

Tianhong: Actor to submit annotations is working.

David: Can get these with check for messages.

Paul: Main missing element is the UI in the annotation processor? OAI/PMH provider and harvest is manual process, has been run to populate test data set.

Needs UI for listing workflows, launch from UI, show results in UI.

Needs mapping of georeference annotations into specify (to make corrections).

Bertram: Do we have a script for the developers?

Paul: Very good idea.

    • QC georeference actor using by logical bounds / country, pass on to geolocate.

Tianhong: Flowchart: http://wiki.filteredpush.org/wiki/Embedding_Kepler#Advanced_GeoRefValidator Needs review.

Paul: Communication from David Shorthouse about his desire to set up test sets and unit tests for cleaning data (particularly georeferences) - seems perfectly timed for the work that UCDavis group is doing.

Discussion. Paul to connect David with Tianhong, Sven, Bertram.

Done, working.

Tianhong: Will configuration for georeference annotation change?

David: Expect one change in next month, everything in system will have to accomodate this - by releasing/distributing new jar.

  • Annotations
    • Progress on rewriting dwFP, OAD, and example annotations.

Paul: Bob working on, but focused on MS rewrite.
