Reports

  • Paul
    • Work on Kurator revisions and budget.
    • Some updates to Wiki.
    • Got a first cut of a video of the SPNHC 2013 demo up, added it to Maureen's new Demonstrations page, refined that page a bit, and removed older demonstrations from the main FilteredPush page.
    • Documented more test cases, including inconsistencies in scientific name representation and example Homonyms provided by Jim and Patrick in Scientific_Name_Validator#Steps.
  • Maureen
    • work on harvester: main methods for harvesting each of fedora, mulgara, mongo, and a harvester that stores files on the file system in csv, xml, rdf xml, n3, or json.
    • progress on mczbase: can make pages work if variables are hard-coded; need a crash course in Cold Fusion.

Notes

FilteredPush Team meeting 2013 Aug 7

Present: Paul, Maureen, David, Jim, Tianhong

  • Anticipated 1 day iDigBio server shutdown in week of Aug 12-16.

Paul: Got notice from Alex. He'll update when he has more information.

  • Third project programmer

(HUH people: 11am Monday (perhaps later) meet with the new programmer)

    • Documentation updates

David: Reworking the developer documentation for the current configuration mechanisms. Need a good "start here" entry point for developers.

Maureen: Wiki reorganization: move three boxes for design/develop/deploy into a page and link to it from the main page.

Paul: Key issue on the wiki is not being sure what information is current and what covers the prototype and earlier systems.

  • Kepler
    • Taxon name cleaning - Homonyms

Tianhong: finished the crosscheck of atomic and no-atomic names. Working on homonym identification.

Paul: Any questions remaining about the flowchart and the design for the actors, or have we answered all of these well enough for the design phase?

Tianhong: Flowchart seems solid (need to update graphic), into the implementation now.

Tianhong: Will prepare some unit tests from the list of edge case examples on Scientific Name Validator

Tianhong: Have a couple of remaining questions about homonyms, will send.

  • NEVP TCN Support
    • UNH site for AnnotationProcessor deployment
      • Information request for Visit (week of Aug 19th)

TODO: Paul: need to email UNH with questions, and line up date.

    • Status update (production deployment target date 2013 Aug 15).

David: Fedora installed on FP2 and FP3. Two client helper instances are set up on symbiota 1 for SCAN and NEVP.

David: Are the symbiota instances on Symbiota 1 current HEAD?

Paul: Easy to tell status with svn status, but:

Paul: We should define with Ed that he does the svn updates on Symbiota1, he has the best knowlege of partially committed features that shouldn't go into production and the entwining of schema updates with the code.

Maureen: Have written harvesters to load data into particular targets (Mulgara, Mongo) (still need a clear out data for Fedora tool), need to deploy these and harvest.

David: We could put the non-fedora triples into a separate graph to make cleaning out triples easier.

Maureen: Best starting point is probably the harvester that writes to files, then load from there.

Paul: Harvests are of occurrences and taxa?

David, Maureen: Yes, just these, including links in taxon heirarchy.

  • SCAN TCN Support.
    • Status update on deployments.

As above.

  • MCZbase Driver

MCZbase FP test instance access

Maureen: With certain things hardcoded, things work. Perhaps issue with cookies.

  1. Can: Access database with SQL developer over ssh X tunnel.
  2. Can: SSH in to see/edit coldfusion code.
  3. Can: Access the specimen search page and run searches, see search results.
  4. Can: Have root on machine, can install tomcat if needed.
  5. Can't: Access to database from SQL developer on desktop (firewall issues).
  6. Can't: Need to create user account (through web form, gets to an error message).
  7. Can't: Don't know how yet: Start/stop coldfusion (need instructions on how).

Non-Tech

  • Kurator

Current draft text at 16 pages, looks like not too hard to cut, does need proofreading.

  • Collaborations

Paul: Had a contact from Rich Pyle on monday about thinking about GNUB integration, pointed him and developer docs and David.

    • Specify/Symbiota
  • Burndown.
