Notes

Present: Maureen, Paul, David, Tianhong, Ed, Bob, Bertram

Agenda

David: Prospective reorganization tomorrow.

  • Annotations
    • Progress on: Rewriting examples/rules from AO/AOD to OA

David: Working on deploying onto VMs in Florida.

Ed: Away next week.

David: Will deploy branch as alternate for testing, then next week we can merge into trunk and deploy.

Paul: Other infrastructure?

David: Glassfish. Should be able to deploy.

Bob: Need to plan for evolution of OA Probably not much that would be a change that would be a pain for us after end of Jan.

Target mid Feb for having a deployment using a particular version of OA post comment period.

  • ApplePie

James: Sooner the better to seek out willing participants. Discuss with them what the requirements are on their side. What the overhead for their staff is. Would be be able to send people out/provide documentation to help. Need timelines, expectations for what happens when.

Bias list to Specify/KEmu users? Where will duplicate finding capability go (Specify?). Add to specimen data enhancement in Symbiota?

Need to look at Morphbank integration as well.

Paul: Should be imminent conversation with iDigBio folks, along with annotations in portal.

  • Embedded Kepler

working on Kepler itself:

1. figure out how to link dependcies in maven for deployed Kepler.

Question: how to access and put libs in Archiva?

Maureen will email you instructions. Tianhong: Ok thx!

2. fix problems in Kepler build (and run) system, e.g. when some module in Kepler is called, it will create a build area for itself, which is not good.

Maureen: let's discuss this further on Friday. Tianhong: OK.

    • Progress on embedded QC job

Paul: Will be working on the name cleaning actors in Kepler curation - in particular using the new GBIF web services now that they have gone live.

Bob: Complete, consider move a success. Avoid anything that says etaxonomy in it, redirection mostly working. (http://wiki.filtedpush.org/ should work soon, depends on dns ttl).

  • Drivers (API documentation, MCZbase).

Still waiting for ResearchComputing resources.

  • Demonstration of pubsubhubub implementation test.

Maureen: Stanbol. In a nutshell - is in incubation, major changes recently and in progress. May want to just watch it - particularly active work on Fedora integration.

Discussion of how to integrate harvest/data stores/indexes with annotations and interest matching.

Extensive discussion of integration plan. We'll set up on Firuta to demonstrate express interest from annotation processor, new determination annotation from symbiota, match to collection code interest using harvested data, check interest, find annotation. Then add in harvest of tree from symbiota, express interest on higher taxon, match annotation asserting lower taxon to that interest. Also add administrative view of internals of network though adminisrative status message.

Roadmap: Jan 25, demo of Fedora/OAI etc, on VM. Feb 1, rough cut demonstration of integration, including match to taxonomic heirarchy. Feb 6, show to group.

  • Change of Meeting Time

Bertram: sorry for the late notice, but I'll be using the 9am slot on and off for th rest of the quarter... (and I'm at a DataONE meeting next Wed, so not around next week until Friday)

Non-Tech

  • Increasing Burn Rate: Prioritized items on google doc.

Bertram: May also make sense for contract basis programmer at Davis - but tend to have long startup times.
